Spirits were high in Allen Park this afternoon, and even though I did not receive any “Sunshine” love, the Lions are locked in and ready to shock the world.

Team Cool Jamz continued to take flight as I talked music with several of the Lions, in addition to the plugging the JRNBA Recreational Basketball League in Southfield that I will be coaching in a long with Andy Law.

Rob Sims delivered his usual song of the day, “Dreamer”, by Common, while Davis sneakily plugged his own band Free Reign.

I had an exceptional chat with Ross Weaver, of Southfield High School, and Michigan State, turns our we have a mutual acquaintance in former West Bloomfield Laker and Michigan State Spartan, Kyle Brown. Weaver showed great interest in working with the JR. NBA.

“I’d love to work with children,” Weaver said.

Weaver, like many of the Lions, has attended very few concerts in his life, outside of church concerts, but looks forward to the opportunity to work with some of his favorite musicians from childhood. I’m making Weaver a list of music he should check out of the soul genre, Aloe Blacc, Tori Amos, etc. and will deliver it to him at practice tomorrow. Look for all sorts of Lions’ shorts in the coming editions of Sportz Detroit Magazine.
