I look upon the world through shades of gray
I must look through these covers for my eyes each and every day,

to prevent me from truly seeing what’s going on in this world
I have always been down on human existence,
They are afraid I might preach the truth to others
the lenses create an alternative world for my eyes
I don’t see the overcrowded cities
the simultaneous poverty and ungodly riches
the racism and inequality among fellow man
the youth of the world throwing their lives away with drugs and alcohol
I don’t see the killing of innocents
because their government is not, or will not protect them
no, I don’t see any of this
I don’t see the world as it is

and because I am unable to see this
to see the truth,
I am a blind man
blind of life and reality.
